My stab at crocheted food!

I made a one tier baby cake with a big rose atop. What do you think? It even has to do with bows (I used my old rose pattern!).

New Door Sign!

Bow-tiful, don't you think? I just whipped these two little bows up tonight.- Bow Girl

New box for my bows in my new place

I found a bigger box! My new place is all organized now. My clothes are in rainbow order, too!
I don't have a whole extra desk and closet for my crochet now, but I do have a bigger closet than I did in Lien. The fact that my closet has no doors is a HUGE incentive for me to keep it organized.

We're packing! Me and my bows, that is.

I put aside a bow and outfit for tomorrow, move-in day, and now the rest are packed into two boxes. Yep, my 45-ish bows no longer fit into one box, especially because of the 3D ones. My supplies and bows take up an entire trash bag (the small kind). Wish me luck!

Crochet and Food. Great Combo!

In case you were hungry...
I stumbled upon this today. I can't find the URL, but I saved the picture.

This made me do some google image searches to come up with some other sushi.
Cute, right?

Then it got me thinking... What other food do people crochet? EVERYTHING apparently.
Cupcakes...
Hamburger with cheese (aka cheeseburger)
Pie...
Sundae...
Donuts...
Veggie Pizza...
Pancakes...
TV dinner...
Fruits and veggies...
Miscellaneous and condiments...
Apparently these are play food for children... I approve!

I'm on the right track baby (I was born this way!)

I have been thinking a lot about blogging and NOT blogging. I think the stress of starting work and not seeing my friends in so long has made me feel a bit withdrawn. I have been eating so many meals alone it is kind of scary. I definitely want to find a partner/roommate/friend to cook with because a) I dislike eating out all the time (I know my father loves it, but it is getting so old), and b) I like companionship as much as the next person. I love where I live and I have lived here 9 months, but I can't wait to move into a building that isn't creepily empty. It's not the place I remember it to be when it was full of lively WUSTL kids, and I miss that! People made Lien an awesome home, not to say the building isn't top notch.

After LeaderShape, I have thought a lot about how I act and why I react the way I do, and I guess it is always good to focus on refinement, speaking more clearly and concisely, and being professional, etc.

I am loud and I am somewhat inarticulate...

But in the words of Lady Gaga's catchy new single, I WAS BORN THIS WAY! In a 2nd reference to that song, I feel as though blogging is the "right track" for me. When I am lonely or nervous or stressed or all three, I tend to pull away, but I think what I need more than anything is to share, speak up, and stay connected to people.

This is a bow I made tonight. I started out with a large medallion:
I thought it was okay, but maybe needed a little something more. I opted to make a 2nd medallion, but smaller.
Then I put them together for a little 3D action.
Also, tonight I wore my "biggest bow to date" (see earlier post) and realized how much bigger my bows have gotten over time. Funny how perspective is. A bow seems huge until the bows steadily start increasing in size, and then what used to be normal is much smaller than the new norm. This one is pretty big!

Bow Love! I am back regardless of whether or not the readers are because I am a sharer and I was BORN this way.

Still here making cat ears for a friend.

Here is my take on a cat ear. I still need to make another. I was going to ask someone's grandma how to do this, but then I just let intuition guide this experiment. I like not knowing where something is going sometimes. It is really neat to try something, figure out what needs to be done, and then fix it to make the vision a reality.
I made my thick "sweater fail" headband in black to attach the ears to.

Sorry...

I haven't been very wordy lately, although I feel that everyone likes the pictures better anyway. Today someone asked me about crochet cat ears. I will have to look into this... I still have to finish the panda, but I know it's a small project so I am not that motivated to finish it. Weird how that works, isn't it? I have been contemplating discontinuing this blog... I am not abandoning my bowstravaganza. I am just not sure anyone else cares...

Brilliant in its simplicity.

New bow!
Check it out. It is so simple to do, yet I think it is a cool new look!

Juliet Cap

I made a Juliet Cap with my magic circle. It also sorta looks like a yarmulke.
Then I made a tie dye one. It's a bit bigger.
Sometimes I think something is "the dark side" because I do it another way. LeaderShape taught me that the "dark side" might just be another approach to a similar end result. Neither is good, bad, right or wrong. Just different.

Yay for medallion caps!

Magic circle makes a medallion!

Here is what my magic circle made. The inner circle is so thin and clean! I am a convert and a believer!

Going over to the dark side.

My new bow! Also, I decided to turn to the dark side. I learned a magic circle. Here it is!

A light pink medallion...

I didn't really intend it to be for my hair, but whatever. It is what it is. I think it is pretty cool for just being a random experiment. As my LeaderShape friends would say "How fascinating!"

Today I went to the St. Louis Art Museum in Forest Park. It was neat.

Tomorrow I am going to hear the one and only Elie Wiesel speak at commencement!

Here is the medallion thingy:

I was really focused on it looking normal in the picture, which is why I look slightly demonic.

New Bows/ Back in Bows-ness

I am back from LeaderShape, and I learned a lot about myself... and others. I made some new bows!
I should also be back to daily posts... It is day 66 so I am getting my kicks! Pun-tastic as usual.

Made this one the bus ride home.
Another angle
On the bus there.
The one I made in Panera the day I left.

I also made a teacup but gave it to a friend.

I am back on Route 66 getting my kicks on day 66. I am more than slightly tired. Bow Love and LeaderShape Love!

Back in Bows-ness (Business)

Hey everyone!

I am DONE with finals and freshman year. I celebrated by making my 39th and 40th personal bows. I don't count bows for other people in this count. On this special bow-ccasion, I would like to show you my two new bows!

This one is a green flower! It matches my shorts, which you can't see in the picture.

This one is kind of like tie dye, which I totally dig.

I may be done with school, but the bowing is just beginning.

Hiding behind bows

There are a lot of things that can he hidden behind a bow, both literally and figuratively.

Literally, I hide my gray hair. I just got my first one. Luckily there is ONLY one. Laugh all you want. I am a bit surprised by how hard it hit me and wasn't quite ready for it yet.

I also hide when my hair is overdue for a washing. That isn't super often though.

Sometimes I hide behind it because it's all I want the world to see or know of me. Just a bow.

This stress will be over soon!

Let your bows shine, but don't let them hide who you are.

Deja Vu/ Mother's Day!

I recall posting about 2 chem tests in two days. Here I go again!

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, especially mine! You are fantastic!

The other day someone asked me, "Are you wearing a bow?"

I just stared at them for a few seconds, turned my head so they could see it (it is a big bow), and smiled.

I want to be as bold as I was when I set out on this journey. I think I will come back to life after my last 2 finals (the 2 chem tests in 2 days) are over.

Tuesday at 10:01 AM I am free to be as bow prolific as my little heart desires.

Bows and kisses! (I wish!)

- Bow Girl

Sorry for the Hiatus!

Bows are still bows, but I have finals to prepare for!

Have a nice Mother's Day!

- Bow Girl

PS. More bow traffic to come after school is done with! There are more surprises to be revealed later on.

More gifts! People are too nice to me.

I got a surprise in the mail today and I am very happy to report that it does indeed pertain to bows!

Universal orange, turquoise, and periwinkle, and some needles. Needles are super easy to lose, and I am down to one (I had two, lost one, got another, lost that, and now I have 7 total, thanks to my mom.). I initially bought the needles for my disaster Halloween costume. That was not crocheted, no worries. : )

Thanks, mom! ILY, and thanks for all of the support! She also got me a cool free tote that is small and compartmentalized to help make my life easier. What a lady!

I used the periwinkle to make a bow. Here it is...

It is my first wide headband with a bowtie style bow. I like it so much, I wore it home even though it didn't match my ensemble.

My body of work!

They fell on the floor, out of their box. Here are all 37 of my bows! Feel free to insert comments about the amount of free time I have... I really don't have that much. I mostly do it between classes/as a Friday afternoon break/over breaks in school. Mostly.

I had to stand on a chair to get them all. My favorite part (get ready for some cheese) is that there is love in every stitch.

I love my bows. I hope everyone has something they love as much as I love my bows. I hope everyone has something that makes me as happy as my bows make me.

Hair plans and people who don't treat me like I'm a total nutcase.

I am going to get real with you in a second here. Not that I am not usually real with you, but I sometimes play jokes (see my post "Haircut!!!" from a few days back).
What I am about to reveal here is the truth. Seriously. Here goes nothing...

I plan my hair around my bows. I kid you not. My part is strategically located to compliment the placement of my bow. When I went to the salon over spring break, I said to my favorite haircutter in the universe, "I want my hair long, and I want it to accent my bows." She said "Great!" Will do!" as if she hears the request 10 times a day.

I love her for not treating me like a total nutso. What a great lady! I appreciate all people who don't treat me like a nutcase. You make my day!

But onto the more exciting stuff: my long term hair plan!

It is pretty simple, actually. I want my hair to be really, really long. I don't think this goal is that crazy, especially since my hair is kind of long as is. Which is why my mom had a heart attack over my little prank the other day. Sorry, mom! ILY!

Like this. Maybe even a little longer.

Here is where I am at now.

My hair is uncombed and just washed, so it looks kinda crazy. Which might be fitting, depending on your opinion of my state of mind.

Bow love! And hair love too, since my hair is my bows' greatest accessory!

- Bow Girl

Never again.

Last night was creepy. I advise against doing what I did. Ever. Also, sleeping in a bow did weird things to my hair. It feels all dry.

Also, I am on a new workout plan. It's more well-rounded than my current plan... I am trying to work more on my core strength and arm strength... Contrary to common belief, crocheting isn't very good exercise.

Point of Clarification/ Sleepovers

Nothing is hanging OVER my head, but there surely is a bow hanging on my head. That is a given.

Tonight I am having a sleepover. I don't want to walk home late at night or walk to work early in the morning, so I am sleeping in the new engineering complex. Yay for cozy couch/chair thingies that can be pushed together. Tonight I guess I have to sleep in a bow since I will be in public. Wish me luck!

- Bow Girl

PS. This is not the type of sleepover I used to long for as a kid...

Nothing is hanging over my head!

I am officially done with all the projects that I owe other people. Ironically, none of my contest winners have implored me for not taking them out to a meal... I haven't gone out with any of them! Instead, I think I am going to try another approach since most people who want bows have already approached me about it more formally. If you leave a comment about what type of bow deal you want to see go down, I will definitely take your ideas into consideration.

Day 50! Bow bloopers/ the chopping room floor.

Today is the 50th day of my bowstravaganza. I have taken a lot of bad pictures, and I feel like day fifty is a good day to air my dirty laundry, so I guess that is what I am going to do!

Here are my favorite pictures that for one reason or another have NOT been featured on my blog (until now!).
a) I don't look happy at all. b) You can't really see the bow too well...

I missed the bow! Oops! At least you can see my new ear piercing really well?

I tried to show that I was taking exam that was held on St. Patrick's Day last year on St. Patrick's Day this year, since last year's exam was used for this year's practice test. However I missed most of the bow, my face is missing, and you can't really read the exam.

This one just is a bad angle for me and the bow. My hand also looks really crazy.

I have never shown this bow before if I recall correctly. I thought the image on the TV looked suspicious, and I look very somber in my glasses.

This one is really hard to see because the background is so busy and the daffodil is so white.
I have no idea. I guess I was just camera shy? Due to crazy web cam angles, my hand looks ginormous yet again.
Cute... not.
I have no excuse for this. I was trying on the hat I made for my sorority sister and I didn't want to not have a bow on because that is sacrilegious, and so I wore my bow as a mustache to take a progress-tracking picture. Not a good enough excuse for this ridiculosity, I know.
I thought this would come out cute. I look like a happy dog waiting for the frisbee to be thrown... Not exactly what I was going for.

Anyway, I bet you've had just about enough of my bow-diculous bow-havior for one day.

50 day love!
